INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Whip up a batch of our perfect cut out sugar cookie dough and chill dough for at least an hour.
  2. Roll out your dough and cut out your deer. Bake and let cool.
  3. Make a batch of classic royal icing, reserving a small amount of icing to color black and white. Color your icing pink adding just a few drops at time until your achieve the perfect shade. Color your reserved icing black and white.
  4. Add a few drops of water to your pink and white icing until you achieve a good outlining and flooding consistency. You will want your icing to smooth into the rest of the icing when you drizzle it with your mixing spoon within 9 seconds. That is how you know it is a consistency that will give you nice smooth iced cookies.
  5. You will want your black icing to be a little more stiff.
  6. Fill piping bags fitted with number 3 round decorating tips.
  7. Pipe a pink outline on your deer, then fill using back and forth lines of icing. You can use a tooth pick to help fill in any gaps. Pipe on white spots and ears while the icing is still wet.
  8. Once your pink icing is set pipe on black hooves, eyes, and noses.
  9. Let your cookies set overnight before stacking.
