Layer Cake Shop in Country Living Magazine!
What a way to ring in the new year.. we have been featured in Country Living Magazine!
The issue just hit the newstands and we are overjoyed with how it turned out. We vote this the hardest secret to keep in 2010 and the very best thing of 2011.. so far!
The article, Making a Country Living, is a regular article that features a different female owned business each month. Its right in the front on page 20!
They photographed a TON of different products, and ended up choosing our Small Deer Toppers and Retro Baby Animals. We had no way of knowing what they would feature, which made it a bit hard to stock up on these little guys. We sold out of them really quick, but no worries, they are on order and will be here asap! Make sure to sign up to be notified when they are back in stock if you are waiting for them.
Country Living contacted us at the end of September and we only had a few weeks to prepare. I (greta) looked at about 300 dresses online to find just the right one. I found this one from Anthropologie with the help of my BFF.. thanks Sara! Then I was on the hunt for the perfect cardigan. I spent many hours cardigan shopping! Kristen has an amazing collection of vintage clothes and already had that perfect little red puffed sleeve number..LOVE it!
There was hair dying to be done, hair cuts, raiding of the makeup drawers, curtains to be made, some touch up painting on the walls, oh and what to put on the bulletin board. It was fun, and when your aiming for perfect it gets a little crazy! There was a whole lot of laughing at the insanity of it all!

It was a great experience and we are amazed at how our shop has grown from its tiny beginnings in just 2-1/2 years. We couldn’t have done it without all of you, our incredible customers! We have received some of the sweetest emails from County Living readers, and a lot of questions. We hope to do a little business related FAQ in the future to help answer some of them. I just wanted to tell you that I found you in Country Living last week and I was more than excited. I spent a solid hour looking at your shop and telling my husband how cool everything is, and your prices are so reasonable. You are now in the list of blogs I follow so I can keep track of you! I will be placing orders in 2011, so excited!!! Congrats on making it into the magazine!!!

Just started perusing my Jan issue of Country Living Mag and stumbled upon the article “Making a Country Living” with you as their featured business. How delighted I was to read your story so I went to your website and fell in love with all the little cake toppers you sell. I am a girl of nostalgia and it took me back to the time when my mother made my sister’s and I birthday cakes from scratch. The cakes were always lop-sided but on top were these little wooded birthday candle holders made to look like “Chinamen”. I wish I had the forthought to keep them. My parents are both gone but the memories of those happy birthday celebrations and little cake toppers bring a smile to my face. Thank you for doing what you do and congrats!
